The Gilmore-Stewart Company
Gilmore Global Instruments’ long history began in 1950 when Mr. Joseph Clayton Gilmore founded the Gilmore-Stewart Company with his partner L.D. Stewart. Gilmore-Stewart was a small service company that repaired speedometers, tachometers, and automotive test equipment. The company quickly developed a reputation of “If Anybody Can Fix It, They Can!” The company became very well known in the Houston area for its outstanding service and ingenuity.

While the company prospered, its growth was limited and it was only able to operate within the niche it had carved out. In 1975, Mr. Gilmore and Mr. Stewart dissolved the partnership on amiable terms. Mr. Gilmore took his portion of the company and founded Gilmore Distributing Co. This new company specialized in servicing and selling instruments and accessories that monitor and control the functions of an engine.
By providing both services and distributing product, Mr. Gilmore planted the seeds that would grow Gilmore Global Instruments into what it is today. After Mr. Gilmore passed away in 1980, his son-in-law, Ron Juren, took over the business and began an aggressive campaign of expansion. Gilmore Distributing soon became Gilmore Global Instruments after it merged with Mr. Juren’s other company Global Instruments.
Gilmore Global Instruments
Today, Gilmore Global Instruments is recognized as an industry leader in the supply and distribution of engine instrumentation and control products. Gilmore Global Instruments is still continuing its process of aggressive growth, and it has recently begun modernizing its facilities and staff so that it may be prepared to handle the newest technologies and products.
Ron Juren has owned and operated Gilmore Global Instruments since 1980 after his father-in-law, Mr. Gilmore, passed away. A graduate of the University of Houston with a BBA in marketing, Mr. Juren has guided the company into a pattern of steady growth. Mr. Juren began working for the Gilmore-Stewart Company in September 1970. After being hired, Mr. Juren began a full overhaul of the business, by reviewing its products and practices. After improving the environment within the company, he then began a very successful campaign of expanding the client base. Today his efforts have paid off, and Gilmore Global Instruments continues its growth under his steady hand.
Mr. Juren is an avid golfer and is highly involved with the Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland. He served as the club’s president for several years before stepping down. Mr. Juren was also a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 1993 in the Sam Houston Area Council. He served for over 10 years.
Our Houston based facility boasts over 20,000 square feet. A third of our warehouse is devoted strictly to stocking large volumes of product for our customers, over half is devoted to manufacturing and product testing, and the final bit is reserved for office space.
We pride ourselves on keeping all areas well organized, all equipment primed and up-to-date, and our inventory count accurate. We have been at this location since 1997, and have expanded our facility thrice by taking over the neighboring buildings. Our latest expansion was in August of 2014 when we purchased the Jones Instrument Company to produce mechanical flyweight tachometers.
